Roberto Jefferson, national president of the PTB party and former congressman, was preventively arrested in August 2021 on orders from Justice Alexandre de Moraes in the fake news inquiry. In October 2022, as federal agents arrived to collect his electronic ankle monitor, Jefferson threw grenades and fired a rifle at the officers, injuring two. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
